COPENHAGEN - The World Health Organization's (WHO) Regional Office for Europe on Thursday urged people to exercise caution this holiday season, as the region is now coping with two highly transmissible corona virus strains that have the potential to overload the already overburdened health systems.

The World Health Organization has warned of a "tsunami" of COVID-19 cases with the Delta and highly transmissible Omicron variants circulating at the same time worldwide.

The Delta and Omicron variants have be described as "twin threats" that are driving up cases to record numbers, which again is leading to rises in deaths and more hospital admissions.

Experience has shown that current tools at our disposal, such as vaccines, booster jabs, testing, masks and distancing, which are proven to be effective and enough to help us to manage the virus and keep people safe.
